Volumetric Weight Calculation

Volumetric weight is an international standard used to determine the chargeable weight of a shipment.

In essence, a package is charged the greater of its physical weight, or its volumetric weight, based upon the amount of space it utilizes. Therefore ensuring packages are not “over packed with too much packaging” can save significant money.

Outpost SVC does not make any money from volumetric weight, and this is passed on at the same rates charged by the various shipping companies.

Please see an example of volumetric weight calculations for your convenience.
